Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Football Management Certificate (FMC) online programme today kicked-off with a record number of 49 participants as the landmark programme follows in its predecessors’ footsteps to produce future leaders.
The 3rd edition of the FMC saw participants from 27 AFC Member Associations (MAs), four Regional Associations (RAs) and independent stakeholders representing seven countries across the Asian continent commence a five-month educational journey that will culminate in them being equipped with the necessary expertise to enhance the professional landscape of Asian football.
The AFC General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John welcomed participants during the first session today and said: “The AFC looks to achieve this purpose by using the FMC to develop the ability and proficiency of promising football leaders.
“By equipping you with professionalism and the principles of good governance, we advance the standards of the game and set new landmarks of excellence.
“I urge all of you to make full use of the opportunities presented by the FMC to maximise your potential and set a positive example for those who come after you.
“The road ahead will undoubtedly have a tremendous impact in shaping you to become a respected and admired future leader of Asian football.”
Participants will attend lectures and discussions, sit for quizzes and present business projects before graduating this November. They will undergo 290 hours of study in nine core modules that will allow them to plan, execute and monitor day-to-day operations effectively, efficiently and professionally.
These modules comprise the Organisation of World Football, Strategic Management, Financial Management, Income Generation, Media & Communications, Event Management, Operational Management, Human Resource Management and Child Safeguarding.
The FMC aims to develop skillsets, industry knowledge and capabilities that enable participants to advance the development of Asian football and set new standards of excellence. It underlines the AFC’s commitment to provide services that benefit MAs, RAs and the Continent’s wider football community.
The programme was introduced under the AFC Academic Centre of Excellence (ACE), a virtual education platform launched in September 2021 to develop future leaders. The first edition of the FMC was introduced in October 2021 followed by the second in January this year.
