Participants embark on FMD educational journey

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) delivered the first-ever AFC Football Management Diploma (FMD) online course as part of the newly established AFC Academic Centre of Excellence (ACE) that was launched in September.

Participants from across the Continent joined the latest education programme designed by the AFC’s partners, the Football Business Academy (FBA), who created a bespoke educational framework that will equip the next generation of leaders in football management in Asia with the necessary knowledge and skills.


In his opening address to the participants, AFC General Secretary Dato’ Windsor John, said: “As Diploma students, the FMD has been designed to nurture your capabilities to elevate the standards of Asian football to even greater heights.


 


“For the AFC, the FMD represents our desire to enrich and inspire the future leaders of our Members and Regional Associations, our leagues and all our stakeholders.

“It reinforces our belief that the AFC is only as strong as our people and through the launch of the AFC Academic Centre of Excellence and the FMD, we remain steadfast in investing in the future of our people.”

The FMD is aimed at middle management, future senior management and higher management for the AFC’s Member and Regional Associations as well as independent stakeholders.

The sessions will be held over 13 months with 460 hours of study time where it will cover 12 core modules including: the Organisation of World Football, International Sports Federation, Strategic Management, Financial Management, Income Generation, Media & Communications, Event Management, Operational Management, HR Management, Child Safeguarding & Social Responsibility, Sports Law and Club Licensing.
