ACFAM brings hybrid programme to Turkmenistan

Ashgabat: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) launched the latest edition of the AFC Certificate in Football Administration and Management (ACFAM) in a hybrid format in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, on Tuesday, marking yet another step forward in enhancing the capabilities of its Member Associations (MAs).

Following successful iterations of the hybrid system in the Kyrgyz Republic and Indonesia, the Turkmenistan leg of the programme will comprise 29 participants from the Football Federation of Turkmenistan (FFT), as well as clubs and regional stakeholders, over five months.

Aimed at assisting the Confederation’s MAs and Regional Associations (RAs) to nurture the skills of future leaders capable of providing solutions to regional needs, the initiative will be delivered through a series of online lectures, accessible via the Learning Management System.

Moreover, the virtual lessons will be complemented by on-site sessions designed to encourage interactive engagement through group activities, case study discussions, and practical learning exercises, thereby fostering collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving among the participants.

Following FFT’s request to conduct the programme in Turkmenistan AFC Deputy General Secretary – Member Associations Vahid Kardany said: “Following the successful implementation of the ACFAM hybrid programme in the Kyrgyz Republic and Indonesia, we are pleased to extend this initiative to Turkmenistan.

“As has been the practice, while the programme addresses challenges specific to the region, I am confident that this edition will further strengthen the foundations of the game across the Continent.”

Designed to take into account region-specific requirements, the capacity-building initiative, which concludes in August, incorporates insights from industry experts focusing on key areas such as infrastructure and pitch maintenance, professional club licensing, and the empowerment of women in football, further enhancing participants’ understanding of the demands posed by the modern game.

Covering the salient features of key functional areas in football administration, the programme comprises 12 comprehensive modules, namely: The Organisation of World Football, Social and Environmental Sustainability, Financial Management, Strategic Management, Income Generation, Media and Communications, Event Management, Operational Management, Human Resource Management, Child Safeguarding and Social Responsibility, Sports Law, and Principles of Leadership.

Facilitated by the Football Federation of Turkmenistan, the ACFAM hybrid programme is yet another instance of the Confederation’s undeterred commitment to providing tailored services to maximise the potential of its MAs and RAs.

Conducted under the aegis of the AFC Academic Centre of Excellence (ACE), the ACFAM hybrid programme joins a host of other educational initiatives undertaken by the Confederation, including the AFC Football Management Certificate, AFC Football Management Diploma, AFC Certificate in Football Leadership, AFC Certificate in Child Safeguarding, AFC Club Management Programme. AFC Certificate in Strategy and Planning, and the AFC Empowering Women in Football Programme.
